After taking out the prestigious Tiffany & Co. National Designer Award, Strateas Carlucci became one of fashion week’s most anticipated shows. Their tailoring and attention to detail is undoubtedly impressive as is their maximal use of a monochromatic palette.
Their coats, their simple and relaxed shapes, were a definite highlight for me. I can just imagine it completing the final layer of what would become my winter snowball outfit. But that’s where I got rather confused – it was meant to be a Spring/Summer show and I left wanting to find matching hats and gloves.
Their ability to work a variety of fabrics and textures to break up shades of white, black and grey though is quite fascinating. There were a number of pieces that I was quite keen to add to my wardrobe but a majority, I found, were too experimental and the crotch dropped a bit too low.
From the glossy cheekbones to the dead-straight-gelled ponytails, the word ‘sleek’ probably best describes the collection and the show.
